On the initiative of the Embassy of Ukraine, the Embassy of Finland and the Atlantic Council of Bulgaria the representative group of the diplomatic corps visited the Crnogorski (Giginski) Monastery of St. Cosma and Damian.
Thanks to the warm welcome the diplomats learned about the history of the monastery, the arduous path of its restoration and the role this spiritual shrine plays in the community.
The Ambassador of Ukraine, Mrs. Olesia Ilashchuk, expressed her sincere gratitude to the abbot and the monastic brotherhood, as well as to Archimandrite Nikanor personally, for their kindness, compassion and for providing the staying for the group of Ukrainian children.
The children from the front-line areas of the Sumy region were able to enjoy moments of silence, tranquility and peaceful skies. They were cared for by the monks, local residents and regional authorities.
The Ambassador of Finland, Mrs. Kirsti Pohjankukka, also expressed her gratitude to the monks and all the kind-hearted people who supported the Ukrainian children and warmly welcomed the monastery’s readiness to continue and expand this noble initiative.
The opportunities for joint charitable efforts were discussed during the visit in order to enable as many Ukrainian children as possible, affected by the Russian war against Ukraine, to come to Bulgaria for rest and recovery next year.
