In other languages: EL – BG

Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew arrived in Rome on Sunday, October 3, where he was welcomed at the airport by representatives of the Vatican, Italy and Great Britain in a joint event he will attend.

Later, he met Rabbi Noam Marans, Director of the American-Jewish Committee’s Department of Interreligious Relations, and then with Grand Imam of Al-Azhar Ahmed al-Tayeb.

In the evening, the Ecumenical Patriarch attended a dinner hosted in his honor at the headquarters of the Community of Sant’Egidio in Trastevere, Rome, and was accompanied by his entourage, to which were added the Metropolitan Polycarpos of Italy and Archim. Gregory, Chief Secretary of the Holy Synod.

It is reminded that the Ecumenical Patriarch will meet Pope Francis and the Archbishop of Canterbury, Justin Welby, with whom he co-signed and recently issued a joint statement on the natural environment and other current problems of humankind, and will participate in various other official events.
