Metropolitan of Nigeria Alexander for the closed temples: More patience and keep praying at home

Dear brethren,

We regret to inform you of the new decision announced yesterday 16th June, 2020 by the Lagos State Government, that postponed the re-opening of Churches (and mosques) indefinitely.

Though the Cathedral Church was ready to re-open and function according to the directives of the State, we are afraid that you will have to exercise more patience and continue praying at home. Meanwhile, the Cathedral will continue with the live streaming of the Liturgy every Sunday as it is done since the lockdown.

I assure you that neither me nor the Parish Priests and Parish Council of the Cathedral Church are comfortable with this situation. We are as disappointed as all of you.

We are called, once more, to be patient and prayerful, waiting till the State confirms that it is safe to re-open maintaining the directives of NCDC.
