The new joint ministerial decision was issued which made the use of face mask mandatory in all places of worship in Greece, as announced by the Deputy Minister of Civil Protection, Nikos Chardalias.

According to the joint ministerial decision, in all places of worship “of every faith and religion, regardless of their size and capacity, the use of non-medical mask is obligatory as part of emergency measures taken to address the risk of spreading COVID-19, both during worship services, rituals, sacraments, funerals and all kinds of religious ceremonies as well as when people come for individual or private prayer.”

Priests and the auxiliary staff necessary for the performance of worship services, such as cantors, but only at the time when the Divine Liturgy or other worship service takes place, are excluded from the measure.
